Riana Development Foundation (RDF) held a high-level engagement with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on 1 October 2026 to strengthen the existing partnership between the two institutions and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration.

RDF was represented by CEO Ms. Carolyne Datche, Technical Advisor Mr. George Ananga, Economic and Partnerships Advisor Mr. Joshua Orero, Patron Pastor Mr. Jackson Ouma Ogeda and Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor Ms. Nancy Wachira.
Strengthening a Strategic Partnership
The engagement reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between civil society organisations and national institutions in advancing peace, cohesion, good governance and inclusive development.
During the meeting, NCIC affirmed the alignment between RDF's programme areas and the Commission's mandate and expressed its readiness to continue working with RDF.
The discussion also provided an opportunity to consider how the existing MOU could be translated into more focused and practical areas of collaboration.
Key Areas Agreed
1. Review of NCIC's Strategic Roadmap
RDF will undertake a review of NCIC's roadmap and strategic priorities to identify areas where the two institutions can potentially collaborate on programme development, implementation and resource mobilisation.
This review will help RDF identify specific areas of mutual interest that can form the basis for future joint initiatives.
2. Strengthening the Existing MOU
Following the review, RDF and NCIC will explore opportunities to strengthen the existing MOU by identifying critical areas of collaboration that respond to NCIC's strategic priorities and RDF's areas of expertise.
The intention is to move towards a partnership that provides a clear framework for practical collaboration and joint action.
3. Joint Resource Mobilisation and Programme Development
The two institutions identified potential opportunities for collaboration around resource mobilisation and programme work.
RDF will use the review of NCIC's strategic priorities to identify potential areas for joint resource mobilisation and development of programmes that respond to shared priorities.
4. Continued Institutional Engagement
RDF will be officially invited to the launch of NCIC's Strategic Plan, creating an additional opportunity for RDF to engage with the Commission's strategic direction and identify areas for future collaboration.
Looking Ahead
The meeting marked an important step in strengthening the RDF–NCIC partnership. Going forward, RDF will undertake the agreed review of NCIC's roadmap and use the findings to propose priority areas for joint engagement.
The partnership provides an opportunity to bring together NCIC's mandate and institutional expertise in promoting national cohesion and integration with RDF's experience in governance, community development, gender equality, education, partnerships and institutional capacity building.
RDF looks forward to continued engagement with NCIC as both institutions work towards translating areas of common interest into practical programmes, strategic partnerships and sustainable impact for communities in Kenya.
